No similarities. Christianity gives you hope and life. Drug addiction gives you hallucination and eventually it takes your life. |

They BOTH have eternal consequences. As a Christian if you continually feed yourself on Gods Word until the day you die, you go to heaven. GODS DESIRE FOR YOU!!! As a drug addict if you continually feed yourself with drugs until the day you die, you go to hell. SATANS DESIRE FOR YOU!!! |

The addiction similarity is only the feeling of wanting more. The difference in the addiction is that wanting more of God's blessing only betters your life and it becomes rewarding and ever lasting spirtually and mentally and sometimes even physically when god blesses you with the things you need or heals you. When you do drugs, yes you want more because it feels good, only thing is, it doesn't last and eventually the only reward you end up with is how it destroys your life/ body and eventually you die, The end. |

The only similarity I can see is that they both cause you to want more. That's where the similarity ends. If you've never experienced the total consuming love of God, I could never explain it enough for you to understand it. Sorta like trying to explain standing on the top of Mount Everest. If you haven't done it, how could I tell you of the awesomeness of standing on the highest point of the world, seeing and experiencing what so few people do? I've smoked dope, so I know first-hand of what I speak. The comparison is nothing to what I've experienced. Having a relationship with God is as real as real can be. I can't expect you to understand that if you haven't had that experience. My relationship with God isn't harmful to my life, but it is life-changing. I'm a better person because of Him. He's changed me into a caring & loving person. Thirty years ago, I was a nasty, selfish person, only living for my own pleasure and not caring who I hurt to get what I wanted. I guess if you wanted to look at it another way, there are a few more similarities, but aren't necessarily bad... Drugs make you dependant on them. God invites you to be dependant on Him. Drugs make you do strange things. God's Word grows & matures you into someone who wants to do things differently. Drugs makes you leave your friends & family. God has a plan for your life that sometimes causes you to leave everything to serve Him, even friends & family. Drugs puts you in harms way. God's ministries can put you in harms way. Drugs gives you dangerous friends. God's directions sometimes puts you in touch with "unsavory " types of people. Drugs takes all you have & demands more. God desires me to willingly give all I have & am, and allows me to love Him enough to do more. Drugs demand a constant fix. God desires me to draw near to Him every day, and receive peace, wisdom, direction, joy, love, hope, and a wealth of other things that are all good for the whole body. I could go on and on, but what it all boils down to is that drugs won't give you a better quality of life like God can and does. The nature of drug abuse is to alter your brain into a false sense of peace that never lasts. With God, there's nothing false about the deep peace I have, even when there's trouble around me. And that peace is everlasting. I don't have to worry about the effects that loving God will have on my health. I can get my "fix " without being concerned about dying a horrible death. I trust God with all I am and all I have. I'm not worried about dying either, as I know what I'm facing and am unafraid. So I'm quite comfortable with what I have. <*))) > < |
