Drug Addiction: Drug Addiction Facts

Question: Do you get terribly annoyed by drug addicts who move from drug addiction to the jesus addiction?

Is there nothing worse than an alcoholic who gives up his alcohol addiction and takes on a Jesus addiction lecturing you about the evils of drinking that 12 ounce can of Miller Lite beer? In other words, a guy who couldn't handle himself getting all preachy with you, someone who can? Will fundies ever grasp the fact that many, many, many people get it right the first time without their precious imaginary god or son of god?

Yes. AA is extremely religious. They have a tendency to do just that - get people to swap one addiction for the other. Very annoying!

No. I am happy for them that they came up out of such a hole to such a height. Admittedly, some are using religion as a crutch to keep themselves from falling back in addiction, but the majority of them have found the truth and can't help but share it. Why be so negative about another person's success?

First, you should know that I am not a Christian. They have moved from being dysfunctional to being functional. I am glad for them. You guys that are so ultra-sensitive to missionaries need to get a life. Walk away and let it roll off your back. Sheesh.

I am thankful that Jesus saved these addicts! You should reconsider ever drinking in front of people who have a weakness to alcohol. As a matter of fact a person who is right with the Lord shouldn't drink because we should never do anything that may lead someone to do something that is unhealthy. I am a Fundamentalist Christian who is certain that you MUST receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. Period!

So, essentially you're saying it is better to be an alcoholic or drug addict and let the people who love you watch you destroy yourself then to try and be a better person (under any other influence)? That might be the worst logic I have ever heard. I used to be addicted to drugs and alcohol and I was the most miserable person anyone could know. I had no plans on changing my life, but it changed but not because I wanted it to. You think you understand everything when you have nothing to believe in. I was anti-christian, anti-God while I was addicted, I wanted nothing to do with Christianity and I was on the verge of losing everything I worked hard for but it was God that chose me and changed me into a completely different person. I respect that you don't get it, a lot of people don't, but just because you don't get it or have never had any experience with God, does not make him imaginary. There are yet a lot more people in the world...in this group even that will find God in their life and they'll be defending him the same way I am now. I respect people who do not believe in God and most of the time I get respect in return. I feel incredibly sorry for you.
