(Posted by: Chris the 4th on 2010-02-19 11:11:23)
Also I have read many stories of the same thing happening to many other people and it has happened to me. Is this evidence of divine intervention???. In my life i believe so. http:/ / www.cbn.com/ entertainment/ music/ jej_korn_meets_christ.aspx |

Yes, I believe it. If you want to learn more about how God has helped people who have addictions, go read the book "The Cross and the Switchblade ". It made me bawl my eyes out when I first read it...not because it's a dramatic story or anything. It just really affected me. By the way, what people say here do have merit though. Where is God when thousands of others need him, and why does he help just this person and that? My answer that is: Well, hmmm.... I don't know. Do we help every beggar we see on the street and every friend who needs our help? I guess based on that, we can all say we are fickle and no good either. Come on. God has a will, just as we all have it too. If He wills what He wills, so be it. We have a choice and he respects that. He doesn't stop us from doing what we want to do... like kidnap kids or terrorize countries, or hurt the people around us, or curse them in our minds. He wasn't there to stop and punish you when you got pissed of at someone today. If he has to control the actions of one person, then in essence he must control everyone else's, because he is fair and just. We certainly don't appreciate the thought of being controlled. So why do we make a big deal of how and who he helps? |

Yes, and that is all that matters is that you know it. You must receive it, believe it and it will be done. Good for you. |

Anyone who is saved is so solely because of divine intervention. No one can come to Christ unless the Father draws them. |

You know what I think is fun to read about...people who have near death experiences. Espeically when they are scientists and it changes their outlook on science. I don't mean people who have almost died...I mean people who have literally died, if only for a few moments and had an experience. |

Yeah...whatever. Where was God when I suffered from severe OCD many years ago. I didn't get over it until I abandoned "God ". I was at severe risk for suicide and ended up in a psyche ward fro a couple of months. Then when I realized that there was no "God " i got better and have no issues with it today. Besides, Korn sucked. |

Yes, god helped this guy get off drugs, but sometimes when children get kidnapped he lets them get raped and tortured to death without intervening. Go figure. |

So you are saying that you have to be on drugs to find god? |

Count me among those whose life surely would have been ended years and years ago if not for Christ, also. |

I think people who have addictive personalities need something to be addicted to. SO, they trade in an addiction to drugs or booze for an addiction to god. Since there is no god, there can be no "divine intervention ". |

Um...no. He deserves all the credit. He helped himself, not some invisible friend. |

No, it's evidence that people can get mental strength by fooling themselves into thinking a magic man cares about them. It really does work, but no it's not God. Think about it..let's say it WAS divine intervention. That means that God cares more about saving Brian Welch from drug addiction than saving little kids with cancer. How is that a good thing? |

As a recovering alcoholic who utilize a support group to stay sober, I have seen many atheists who recover with out the help of a higher power. Of those I know who use a spiritual approach to sobriety, most have a gradual spiritual awaking, not the sudden "divine intervention " that you are referring to. To think that if God wants you sober he will do something like strike you with lightning or something of the sort is insane. Yes, many find help in their struggling through belief in some sort of God, but bottom line is we all have free will. Until an alcoholic or addict is ready to stop living in the bondage of addiction, he will continue to drink or use. If everyone waited for that divine intervention, most would die in the gutter waiting. |
