Question: What did hippies, flower children, peace nuts, etc call themselves back then? activists? drug addicts? mellow?

I don't personally call them anything but hippies 'cause...well...that's all i've ever known them to be.but i wanna know what they called each other and themselves.

Those were all labels that society put on us..don't remember having a name ..what do you and your friends call yourselves? you probably don't have a name for yourselves either..

I'm no hippie, but how does a term such as 'peace nuts' make any sense? It's sort of like how credit card companies refer to customers who pay their balance off each month (and thus pay no interest) as 'dead beats'.

We called each other by our names.The hippy name covered all of us-freaks,heads,flower children,long hairs,radicals,militants,,activists.Just depended on what we were doing at that time.On a commune,a hippy.In chicago protesting,a radical,protester,militant .The one thing we all had in common was our hair and rebel attitude. Now we're back to just being old hippies.lol
