Drug Addicts: Drug Addiction Facts

Question: How are you supposed to honor your parents if they are drug-addicts?

I know honor means respect, etc. How are you supposed to respect someone like that? If you are a Christian No Trilinie you've just failed to answer my question.

Well, it's not that simple. You don't have to judge a person's character or their actions to respect them. We are all human beings, and we all deserve to be treated as such. You don't have to look to your parents for moral guidance, but you have to tolerate them, no matter how difficult it may seem. Growing up, my father was an alcoholic. I watched him physically abuse my mother, and while there was nothing I could do at the time to change the situation, I knew that treating my father like a criminal wasn't going to solve anything. To this day, I believe that I learned something from him that is very valuable and beneficial. Though our morals were not in sync, he was still my father, and I still had a certain duty as his daughter. Something else to keep in mind is that there is always something to learn from the people we encounter in our lives, whether it be from a positive or negative aspect of their character.

Don't let their habit define them like they've done, and honor them and don't honor the habit.

I don't. My mother is a meth addict that got my sister into it. I have no respect for her.

Yup. You've discovered the flaw in the 10 commandments. Another example: Honor your parents if they are thieves!? Thou shalt not fall down to worship idols. ..................Contradictory.............. The statue of the Virgin Mary.......... The carved image of Jesus on the cross.........

I ask myself all the time how do i honor mine if they are the way they are but its not up to us to judge. if you believe in god then i guess all i can say is do your best and respect them and YOULL be rewarded and they will have to pay the price for being the way they are in the after life.. hope this helps :)

Well as long as the drugs aren't hurting them or anyone else around them, then I see no reason not to respect them. You don't necessarily have to respect anyone...society tells you to, but they also say a lot of other things I don't agree with...

Respect and honor for your parents come from them bringing you to life. you say "i didnt want to be here " yea well your here, and you dont say that whenever your enjoing life
