Atheists & Believers: What are some good organizations you know of that fight against hard drug addiction?
Here in Washington DC, there's a group called " Second Genesis" that I've given money to that is supposed to be pretty successful in getting crack and heroin users off drugs, using a " tough love" method. I think the founders organizers are probably Jewish, judging from their literature, but I'm not sure of this.Are there either religiously oriented or purely secular groups that you know about & recommend supporting, that are helping people to escape from substance abuse & addiction?

How would you minister to someone that is struggling with drug addiction?

So... I have started getting in contact with some sisters I used to know at the Kingdom Hall. It has been a while, a couple years, and I have yet to tell them I am in drug treatment. What will they think if I tell them I went voluntary to drug treatment? That I ODed?I am just wondering what there response will be, because obviously treatment takes a big chunck of time and would interfere if they ever asked me to go to the Kingdom Hall on weekdays.Any JWs out there... please answer Thanks

Has anyone ever been healed from alcoholism or drug addiction?

Is a religion addiction in a way just as harmful and self destructive as a drug addiction?
Compare it to heroin if a heroin addict is given a clean supply of heroin, sterile needles, has an adequate diet with adequate exercise, there s no reason why the heroin addict won t live well into his or her eighties, just bombed out every day of his or her existence. You know, clean heroin doesn t slowly destroy any of the body s organs like cigarettes and alcohol do. It s a substance that is injected straight into the blood stream instead of being absorbed into the bloodstream via the lungs or digestive tract. This is similar to religion because religion doesn t cause any physical harm to the body but it harms by reducing the potential to achieve. Like the heroin addict above, a religious person lives every day of their existence within a pleasant haze, chasing rainbows and butterflies that only they can see. But can you see how religion is just as harmful to individuals and society as drug addiction?

Is alcoholism/drug addiction a disease?
I'm sure this has been asked many times but allow me to put a little spin on the question by asking many other questions of relevance.Do you think one of the above qualifies but not the other?Do you think the government is sending mixed messages by one being legal and not the other?Should the government be using 'tax on alcohol' money toward treatment for alcoholics?Are we winning the war against drugs?Would we see a decrease in drug usage if the tax money on the sales of legalized drugs was used toward education, prevention and rehabilitation?Do these questions cause you to reevaluate your position?I get particular enjoyment posing my questions to the 'seniors'. Christians: How to correctly deal with drug addiction/anxiety/depression?
I'm unfortunately addicted to a degree and have problems with drugs. Nothing illegal, thank god, I'm not that stupid, but I've been taking prescription drugs for anxiety, etc, and all sorts of other supplements, etc, caffeine being the least of my problems.Drugs for depression, mostly over the counter, drugs for anxiety, mostly prescription, and other supplements vitamins ,etc.The problem is, It's REALLY hard to distinguish what's anxiety, to what's depression, and to what's spiritual weakness and lack of faith. It's hard separating emotion from instinct and spirituality.Especially when you're trying to purify yourself, which is good spiritually AND physically. Don't want to destroy my health or my liver.However when going through the addiction withdrawal process, it screws up my mentallity emotions to such a degree, that I can't think clearly, and in that state I'm prone to making MANY mistakes. Lashing out at people, doing unchristian things. HELP Symbolic things also happen, like I couldn't sleep this night, I woke up, and found my virgin mary framed picture which was supposed to hang from the wall, on the floor. Kind of scared me.I just feel like whenever I'm going through a tough time and perhaps destroy my faith for those few days, that God is going to hate me, or that the devil might feel it's the opportunity to atack or whatever.Also why do symbolic things happen like , why would my virgin mary picture detach from the wall and fall down, and I can't sleep and I wake up.It's all a bit 2 much.

Have you ever noticed that people with drug addictions often have unusually pale blue eyes?
I have worked with addicts for years and have noticed that a very high percentage of them have unusually pale blue eyes. Is there anything to this?I mean, clearly this would really only apply to caucasians but among caucasians who are addicted to drugs, have you noticed this?

Does religion, like drug addiction, lead people into a life of corruption, deceit and violence?
Some of the most corrupt people on the planet are religious people. Some of the most active liars and deceivers of the public on the planet are religious people. Some of the most violent, sadistic and cruel people on the planet are religious people. I realize that these are all assertions and I have no evidence upon which to base them, but don t you just feel that they re the truth?

Looking for a drug addiction charity?
I am looking for a charity to donate to. I would like to find one that benefits the families and loved ones left behind when someone passes away as a result of a drug overdose, or possibly one that benefits families of drug addicts. I am looking for non profit organizations or groups, and preferably ones that deliver at least 80 % of their donations to the families.

Does anyone know a good website,where you can chat about drugs,addiction,chat,up to date,etc....?
I would like to talk to about different drugs, the side affects how they make you feel the withdrawls. That kind of stuff. Mostly for my family,but for me too.
